Middlethorpe Hall & Spa is often described as a magnificently kept country house with beautiful gardens, including kitchen and formal gardens, easily accessible from the hotel. Guests frequently praise the spacious and clean rooms, especially in the main house, and find the breakfast outstanding with many choices, though some have found the Courtyard rooms a little tiny. lovely gardens and attentive staff

tasting menugenerous breakfastnarrow staircase
The room i stopped in was a main house beautiful double or twin room. it felt spacious and was spotlessly clean. for dinner i had the tasting menu with matched wines. It was all excellent. the dining room had no piped music, which i appreciated. breakfast was also very good and generous.
the staircase to the second floor was narrow and winding. this was presumably for the servants originally. our room included two steps into the bathroom. this proved a little inconvenient.

This location gave a rare Downton Abbey moment. It is a genuine listed country house. Attention to detail existed all the way.
My Courtyard room was tiny. It was in need of an update. The bathroom looked tired.
